Kids in the Kitchen is part of a larger initiative put forth by the Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI) designed to promote the organization's long-time commitment to improving the health and wellness of children. Both the Junior League of High Point and AJLI believe that children and families empowered with the knowledge of how to feed and exercise their bodies will live healthier, happier lives.
Over the past 15 years, the Junior League of High Point is proud to have facilitated its Kids in the Kitchen program for hundreds of children in our community. In recent years, the Junior League of High Point has partnered with the High Point YWCA and the Millis Regional Health Education Center to host a program for local schoolchildren aimed at healthy eating and living. This program consists of a three-part workshop in which children participate in an exercise program, a nutrition tutorial and a healthy cooking class. An emphasis is placed on simple changes children and their families can make to add nutritional value to their meals and on the importance of exercise for optimal physical and mental health.
