Briles House

The Junior League of High Point's Headquarters is located at the Briles House, a historic home within the High Point community.  We are excited as an organization to offer the opportunity to share a part of High Point's history with Briles House rentals, and historic preservation education.

HOUSE History

Constructed in 1907, the Briles House is a treasure for the High Point community. One of the first residences constructed along Main Street, the Briles House is one of the few remaining original homes built in this era. When the house was first built, it was considered to be "in the country".  This marvelous house led and inspired the construction of a parade of magnificent homes along upper Main Street.

For nearly one-hundred years, the home remained in the Briles family until the death of daughter Ruth Briles in 2002. It was then that the Briles House was purchased by The Junior League of High Point, Inc. and renovated through the support of the community. The home is named The Junior League of High Point, Inc. - Mary Strickland Froelich Headquarters - The Briles House.

The house is named in memory of Mary Strickland Froelich (Maize), a JLHP Past President, former member of the Board of Directors of The Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc., and a driving force in the High Point non-profit community.

The League moved its headquarters into the second floor of the Briles House in 2007 and continues to operate there today.

Briles House + Historic Preservation

Historic preservation is much more than saving old buildings, it champions and protects places that tell stories of the past. It enhances our sense of community while educating our citizens and strengthening our local economy.  As an organization with a historic home to share with our community, we provide opportunities to learn more about historic preservation and the benefit of preserving the history of High Point. During community events we offer tours of the house, along with educational speakers.

Private historic preservation tours are offered to elementary aged students throughout the year. If you are interested in scheduling a tour, please contact us for availability.
